Create & Edit content

When you wish to edit a page, simply select the page from the main menu or select create content from the administrators menu. You will be presented with the option to view or edit.

If you select the Edit option you will be presented with a screen similar to the one shown below.

All pages must have a title. This is important for search engine purposes, so try to ensure that your title is relevant and contains words that might be used by people using search engines to find your site.

The simple editor screen should be fairly recognisable to anyone with Word processing experience. Placing your mouse pointer over the icons will give an indication to the use.

Images and links.

To place an image into a page place your cursor at the point you want to insert the image and click on the tree icon. (Between the anchor and the brush). The following screen will appear.

Image Insert Screen

To upload or select an image click on the Icon indicated by the arrow. This will open another window that will show you the images that have been previously uploaded or give you the option to upload images from you PC.

NOTE: All images larger than a pre set value will be resized to within these limits. (The pre set value can be configured by the developer.).

(I would recommend NOT using large images as it can take a long time to resize and there is no benefit in using large images on a website and can severely impact response time for viewers of the site. If taking images from your own camera use the smallest image size on your camera and keep the JPG size to less than 800kB prior to uploading).

The window shown below allows you to view files that have already been uploaded, by clicking on the file name. Selecting delete will remove the file and selecting add will place the details of the image onto the previous screen for inclusion on the page.

To upload a new image click on the Browse button to select the new image from your PC, followed by Upload File to transfer the image to your website.

Upload screen

When the images has been uploaded clicking on the add (top right hand side) will enter the details of the image into the previous screen. As shown below.

This also give you the option to align the image on the page. There are a number of options here, but I would suggest that are most useful are Left and Right, show at the bottom on the drop down menu. These options will place images within the flow of text and allow the text to wrap around the image, if there is sufficient space.

You can also add a border around an image if required and select the distance between the image and surrounding text. I would suggest values of 1 for a border, if required, and 10 for the spacing.

Filled in upload screen

If you wish to add a link to an image or text, first select the image or text that will have the link and click on the chain icon. The second broken chain icon will remove a previously set up link.

When this is clicked the following screen will appear:

Link screen

You can simply paste a destination URL into the link URL field.

You should also set the Target option to either open the link in a new window or the same window.

I would suggest that you do now use the class option as this applies formatting from specific areas of the website.

When complete click on insert.

Meta tags

The Edit screen also allows you to add Meta tags. These are words and phrases that are used by search engines and are not shown on the screen. I would suggest that these are both filled in with relevant information for that page.

Input format

This is an advanced feature and I would suggest that it is left on Full HTML or some details of your page may not be shown.

Following this, there may be options for various content types. In the site documented here there were a number of content types that can be used and are described below. These types will vary from site to site and you may also have specific types for your instalation. So the following is for reference examples only.
